Rarely do I read a teaching book and say – this completely changed the way that I think about teaching. More specifically, this book totally changed the way that I view mistakes in my math classroom. The author of this book – Jo Boaler also does a lot of great work over at youcubed.org. I’m excited to take her online PD through Stanford this summer to learn more about fostering a Growth Mindset in my students.
I’ve been called many things in my career as a teacher, most can’t be repeated here. But once a colleague called me a “Classroom Management Ninja.” I really liked that and I definitely took it as a compliment. This book will help you become a Classroom Management Ninja as well. I always give a copy to any new teachers or student teachers that I am mentoring. If you need some advice on classroom management, you should get this book.
Great month by month activities to help foster a growth mindset in your classroom. This is a great resource to help you be intentional about your classroom culture from day one.
I consider myself pretty tech savvy, so I was expecting to already know everything about Google Apps. I was wrong! This book has great ideas for beginners and advanced practitioners. Follow Alice Keeler now!
I haven’t read this book yet, but it was recommended to me recently and it looks cool. Check it out and let me know what you think.
I think the title speaks for itself!
As my students finish up their Surface Area and Volume Playlists, I found myself searching for more hands on projects as an extension for those students who finished early. I went to one of the best books I have for Projects and Performance Tasks. This book has great performance based tasks on every topic. Check out an example HERE.
